Are sites like Cardpool a legit way to save?

Keep your Disney vacation within budget and save money by paying with discount Disney gift cards! It’s one of my favorite ways to save and our family uses it for everything from our vacation package to souvenirs. In a previous blog post, I focused on stores that sell discounted Disney gift cards (you can learn more about that here). While that article focused on physical stores, today we’ll dive into online card resellers that offer discount gift cards–some offering up to 20% off! You won’t need a Costco or Sam’s Club membership to take advantage of these or rely on cashback or points from credit cards. I’m super excited to share these hacks with you, so let’s get started!
1. Cardpool

Cardpool is an online gift card exchange where you can sell unwanted gift cards or buy someone else’s unwanted gift cards at a discount. Sellers wanting to get rid of their cards fast will offer higher discounts, which means better savings for you! They offer both physical cards and electronic gift cards for a variety of stores, restaurants, and other services. Cardpool offers a 60-day guarantee on their cards for extra peace of mind. Disney gift cards aren’t always in stock and they sell out fast, so you’ll probably need to check back frequently to snag one here.
Pro tip: Use discounted Landry’s cards to save on dining at Rainforest Cafe and T-Rex while at Walt Disney World!

2. Raise

Similar to Cardpool, Raise is another online gift card exchange where you can buy discounted gift cards. Deep discounts on Disney gift cards are really hit or miss on Raise, but you can also set alerts so you get notified when a sweet deal becomes available. You can also “stack” savings by purchasing through TopCashBack.com and they’ll give you money back for purchases made on Raise from time to time. If you have a cashback or points credit card, you can link it to these accounts to multiply your savings even more! I personally like to use Raise to buy discounted gift cards for GameStop, Cheesecake Factory, and Landry’s Restaurants. 10% off at these are fairly typical on any given day, but your mileage may vary 😉.
One thing to keep in mind with Raise: I’ve recently heard of some folks getting scammed by the original cardholder (not by Raise). Buyers have reported funds being missing from cards that were legit at the time of purchase. While I’ve personally not experienced this, I can see how this would be very frustrating, and Raise does seem to make every attempt to resolve these issues promptly. If I am buying a Disney gift card from Raise or Cardpool, I make sure to apply it to the reservation as soon as possible or to combine it with an existing gift card number through disneygiftcard.com.
3. GiftCardDeal.com

Giftcarddeal.com offers Disney gift cards discounted up to a whopping 20% off! This one sounds too good to be true, so I had to “test drive” it for myself to see if it’s for real. The verdict: LEGIT! I was honestly shocked and have no idea how they can offer such steep discounts on their gift cards, but they somehow do. They aren’t always in stock, but they seem to restock them pretty often, so all you’ll need to do is check back every few days. There are only a few set amounts to choose from, but if you’re using these to pay for a Disney package or cruise, the higher amounts actually come in handy. For example, their highest amount is an electronic gift card for valued at $1050, but you’ll pay only $840! Mind is blown 🤯

So, let’s say you’ve booked a room at Disney’s Grand Floridian using their “Magic is Here” promotion for 30% off your hotel stay and you pay for that using gift cards discounted at 20% off, that would give you a HUGE savings of 50% off your hotel stay at Disney’s flagship resort hotel! Or, if you were staying four nights at Pop Century (without any discount offers from Disney), you would essentially be getting one night free! What’s the catch, you ask?

Well, there are two things to be aware of when ordering a gift card through GiftCardDeal.com. First, their order fulfillment can take 7-12 business days according to their website. In my experience, this is accurate, as it took about 2 weeks for me to receive my electronic gift card. So, not great for buying one while on your way to Disney thinking you’ll get to use it the same day.
The other thing to keep in mind with GiftCardDeal.com is its limited payment options. You can’t pay using PayPal or your credit card. Their only options are Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Zelle. I’m not sure what their reasoning is for this, but it hasn’t created any issues for me thus far. If I find out why I’ll definitely update my post to keep you all informed.
Giftcarddeal.com also offers a 60-day protection guarantee through Norton, up to $5000 per customer.
